ACTIVITY WEEK 6

In week 6, we were discussing about Chapter 4, System Planning and Selection in week 4. System Planning and Selection tells about to describe the steps involved when identifying and selecting projects and initiating and planning projects, discuss the content of and need for a project scope statement and baseline project plan, describe various methods for accessing project feasibility. Student will also can explain intangible and tangible cost and benefits, explain recurring and one-time costs, describe various methods of cost/beneft analysis, describe a structured walkthrough.

In this chapter have been summarize about Project Identification and Selection involves identifying potential projects, classifying and ranking of projects, selecting projects. Baseline Project Plan (BPP) was created during project initiation and planning. It contains Introduction, High-level description of system, Outline of feasibility, Overview of management issues. Project Scope Statement describes what project will deliver.

At the end of the class, all student in their group must submit their log book report that required all group members, attendance of members and also all activity for every week. Also, student must show to the lecture the website that they have build and all progress of their website.

ACTIVITY WEEK 5

In week 5, we were discussing Chapter 3, Managing the Information Systems Project. In this chapter, student learn about skills required to be an effective project manager, describe skills and activities of a project manager during project initiation, planning, execution and closedown. It also includes, discuss critical path scheduling, explain Gantt Charts and Network Diagrams, Review commercial project management software packages.

Project Management Process is a planned undertaking of related activites to reach an objective that has a beginning and an end. There are four phases in Project Management Process :
-          Initiating
-          Planning
-          Executing
-          Closing down

Gantt Charts is useful for depicting simple projects or parts of large projects. It show start and completion dates for individual tasks. While Network Diagrams is used to show order of activites.

In Commercial Project Management Software, there are many systems are available. Three activities are required in Commercial Project Management Software :
-          Establish project start or end date
-          Enter tasks and assign task relationships
-          Select scheduling method to review project reports

ACTIVITY WEEK 4

In week 4, there are quiz. On that day, En.Zaliman unable to attend because of the bussines work. Therefore, he has requested help from his staff to replace his place. The quiz covered two topic, there are chapter 1 : The Sytem Development Enviroment and chapter 2 : The Source of Software. The quiz consist of two question and we are given 30 minute to finish it.

After that, we were divided in two group. Where our group was selected to go the computer Lab at level 3 for the multimedia testing.

ACTIVITY WEEK 3

In week 3, we were discussing Chapter 2 : The Source of Software. In this chapter, student learn about how to understand outsourcing, describe six different sources of software and discuss how to evaluate off-the-shelf software. It also include about discussing reuse and its role in software development.

After that, lecturer seperate us into two group. The first until fifth group has to go to computer lab for multimedia testing and the rest have to stay in the class to think about their proposal for final project. Our group decide to do about homestay database.

ACTIVITY WEEK 2

In week 2, we were discussing about Chapter 1: The System Development Environment. In this chapter we learn about:

1] Information system analysis and Design ,
2] Modern approach to system analysis, Role of System Analysis
3] Three types of information system :-
   -Transaction Processing (TPS)
   -Management Information System (MIS)
   -Decision Support (DSS)
4] System Development Life Cycle (SDLC)

Phase 1: System Planing and Selection==>Phase 2 : System Analysis==>Phase 3 : System Design ==>Phase 4 : System Implementation and Operation

5] Alternative to System Development Life Cycle

Other than that, our lecturer ask to form a group there are consist 4 or 5 members each group. after forming group, he gives first assesment to our class to discuss in a group.

ACTIVITY WEEK 1

On this week, was the first class of System Analysis And Design (CSEB223) subject. Our lecturer, En.Zaliman was described about the course outline and explain what will be learned during this semester.

INTRODUCTION : SYSTEM ANALYSIS AND DESIGN

This course introduces to students all activities in analyzing, designing and developing information systems including the management, specification, evaluation, security, and also techniques used in software maintenance.
Besides that , the purpose of System Requirements Analysis is to obtain a thorough and detailed understanding of users’ need and to break it down into discrete requirements, which are then clearly defined, reviewed and agreed upon with the Customer Decision-Makers.During System Requirements Analysis, the framework for the application is developed; including functional requirements, non-functional requirement, hardware and software requirements as well as the comparison of various development platforms and languages will be reviewed. In other word, system requirement analysis will provide the foundation for all future design and development efforts.
